Gord In OnGetValue I had: if ( ParValue.IsEmpty() ) ParValue = " "; Why did I put this in? I seem to remember, FR giving an exception when it couldn't find a variable, so I thought that adding this catch-all statement would fix it...…

That's useful. How would I suppress the child band on a per record basis? I don't want it to pad out my report when it contains no data. NB: I populate my report using OnGetValue, if that has a bearing on the above. Thanks David
