Improvement of Word-Export

edited January 2008 in FastReport 4.0
Hello,
are there any possibilities to improve the export of rtf-Files ?
The resulting texts in word consists of a lot of tables/cells. This makes it difficult to edit the rtf-document afterwards. We have many customers who want e.g. insert new lines or write texts between some lines.
But this is not possible due to the fixed height of the cells. The new texts/content become clipped at the cell border.

It would be helpful to have one of the following solutions:
a ) table/cells which don't have a fix size and enlarge when text is inserted.
b ) a more "normal" text export e.g. by using tabulators instead of tables.

If you like I can send you an example frx-report for which we need a solution.

Thanks

    You have to read http://fast-report.com/pbc_download/exports_eng.pdf

Many formats use table data presentation. First of all it is a question of such formats as HTML, XLS, XML, RTF and CSV. No cells crossing or their arranging in layers is permissible in such formats (if to consider exactly table marking, that concerns HTML and RTF), in contrast to freedom of report sample development process in FastReport designer. Export filters, as a rule, take into account these requirements at most on objects transferring from FastReport report to necessary format. That is carried out via special algorithms of taking object crossings into account and their optimal placing. On object crossing points new columns and lines in resulting table appear. That is necessary for saving of FastReport transferable objects exact positioning and for getting maximum resemblance between the result and original report. Large number of cross objects in report leads to growth of number of columns and lines in table. That complicates further resulting file usage and reduces exporting. .....

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
