Dear all,

We have been using Crystal reports since 8 years and now looking for any good alternative. Currently i have downloaded demo of Fast Report Studio and trying to create some reports from it.

When i try to connect fast report with my password protected access mdb file, it gives me following error -

"Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user"

I have verified that no other user is using file. also checked that system.mdw file is present in my system directory.

Can anyone tell me how to connect to this database ? Your help is very much appreciated.

Also i would like to see some more VB6 code examples.

Thanks in advance.

Check the connection string. Perhaps you made error in Data Source, User ID or Password.

    Dear OlegK,

    Thanks for reply.

I have tried it several times with no success.

I'm sending you a screen shot. just guide me where i'm wrong.

I'm using Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.

When i'm using same report with my connection string to database, it works.
this problem comes only when i try to build connection from design view.

Try user-level security wizard in access and DO NOT rename workgroup file, just leave it as Security.mdw.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
