Multple versions of Delphi and FastReports

We just received Delphi 2010 and I installed FastReports 4.8 (9/29/2009). Now, Delphi 6 says does not have FastReports installed.

I need to install FastReports 4.7.118 with Delphi 6 and FastReports 4.x with Delphi 2010. At least until all of the 3rd party components, that I use, have updated to accommodate Delphi 2010.

How do I install 2 versions of FastReports for 2 versions of Delphi?

Uninstalling and reinstalling is not easily workable.

you can't use 2 versions, unless you are using virtual machines.. you use 1 version
    ie
de install current version using fr uninstaller.
    delete fastreport 4 folder
install new version for delph 2010 then run fr recompiler to install new version to other ide by selecting the correct compiler and options.
suggest that before compiling any of the fr demo's you make separate copy for each ide.

    Are you sure?

    Because, I have done it.
In my original problem. When I installed FastReports 4.8 with Delphi 2010. The installation would only allow me to remove FastReports. The de-installation removed FastReports 4.7.118 for Delphi 6.
A co-worked advised me to remove all the FastReports listings from Windows Add/Remove program in the Control Panel. I had 2 listings for FastReports 4. I removed both. The second caused an error message and asked if I want it removed from the control panel. I clicked Ok. Then installed FastReports 4.8 in Delphi 2010. Then installed FastReports 4.7.118 in Delphi 6. Each installed as you would expect. Both asked for a key number. Which I gave a different key for each install. When I open Delphi 6 and drop a frxReport component the version number is 4.7.118. In Delphi 2010 the same component has the version 4.8.7.

The FastReport files are located in C:\Program Files\FastReports\FastReport 4\ with Delphi 6 installed to LibD6 and Delphi 2010 installed in LibD14.

As long as I separate the demos or do not use them, will this continue to work?

the method i suggested works fine for me bds2006 radstudio2010 this way i dont have to change the delphi lib paths. i keep seperate demos because there is differences in the libs.
dir structure is similar except mine is libd10 libd12, libd14.
IIRC you should have only 1 key # unless you have(had) a previous lowerelevel version
there should be no reason to not upgrade all. 4.8.7
