Hiding line numbers

I've got quite difficult report to do. Let's consider we have a report of sold clothes in a fashion store for example. And let there be 5 records of trousers an 4 records of t-shirts. Each of these are in their own group in our report. Now, I need to do somehow, that the trousers records will contain Line# variable and the T-Shirts will NOT. But the data are from the same dataset and they have to be on the same report. How can I do that?
