Issues with vertical bands

I've some issues with vertical bands. I'm using the trial version of FastReport v3.23.
First of all please have a look at this screenshot of the designer. And here is the result from the preview. As you can see there are spaces between header, master data and footer. It seems like the widths of the vertical band headers (the ones were the band type and name is displayed in the designer) are considered by the report. This contradicts the behavior of horizontal bands! There is a workaround which produces the desired output by overlapping the band headers but it's pretty ugly.
Also, why are vertical bands not connected to each other?! They can be moved around freely.
