Why is sad poetry so effective at expressing grief and solitude?

I've been exploring the emotional impact of classic and contemporary sad poetry, particularly Urdu Ghazals and reflective verse. There is something unique about how concise couplets capture feelings of heartbreak, longing, and solitude in ways standard prose can't.

I recently curated a collection of these themes over at bestsadpoetry to archive classic and modern pieces.

What are your favorite poets or specific Ghazals when you're looking for deeply reflective or melancholic poetry?
