Kylix Support ?

Can someone please tell me if FastReports 3 Enterprise Edition can be compiled to run on Kylix. I also have a need for FastScript for other areas of my application, but from your website I get the idea that this is included in FastReport 3. Is that correct or do I need to purchase both products.

    1) FR3 is VCL-only, it can't be compiled in Kylix or CLX.
    2) FS is included into FR3 (from FR3 Standard version)

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your response. Can I clarify. I need to allow the report design on Windows, but the production excution of the reports from a linux or windows server. Would it be better for me to purchase the version 2 product, or do you think that this could be atchieved with the version 3 product ?

    We don't plan to make CLX-compatible version of FR3.

    Hi Alex,

    I am very interested in at least trying to get the version 3 solution to work for me on Linux as I am only wanting to execute the reports on the Linux platform and the design engine will remain on Windows. Furthermore, the version 3 product has some key features that I require which are not available in Version 2.5

    I therefore propose that I purchase Version 3 Enterprise Edition for US$ 349 and try to get it to work as desired on Windows and Linux, and if I can't, that you downgrade me to version 2.5 VCL and CLX free of charge. I think that this is a very fair trade as version 2.5 VCL + CLX + FS cost less than version 3.0 Enterprise.

    Please confirm if this is acceptable to you.

    It's TOO hard because FR3 uses a lot of Win32 API functions to render and print a report objects. You can use FR3 Server to run reports in Linux under Wine instead of trying to port the FR3 to CLX.

    I accept this and am willing to try as I am also required to port a PDF editor to Kylix and expect significant overlap. Can you agree to downgrade me to to 2.5 VCL + CLX + FS if I don't succeed with version 3.0 ?

    Thank you for this. If I succeed, I will send you the code as I gather from your forum that many of your clients would like Linux support for thier apps. Quite frankly it's what makes your product so good.
