Compatibility between FR 6 and FR 5
If a user creates a report in FR 6 and saves it as an fr3 file, if another user tries to run the report in FR 5, will the report work? We are considering upgrading to FR 6, but we will have a installed base of users using an app that is based on FR 5 (e.g., those that have not upgraded to our later version of our product that uses FR 6).

FR 5 report templates will works with FR 6 too. Download FR 6 Trial https://www.fast-report.com/en/download/public_files/267/ and test it
Hi the question is will reports created in FR6 run in FR5 so long as they don't use the new components of FR6?
FR 6 report template may run in the FR 5 if it doesn't use FR 6 features (new objects and new properties)
FR 5 report templates should work fine with FR6.
