Fast report causes app to hang

edited 8:32AM in FastReport 4.0
I have written an app with C++ Builder XE2 and fast reports 4
It runs fine on my desktop another windows 7 machine which has my XE2 installed and another windows 8 machine with no development tools installed.

However on a 3rd windows 7 - 32 bit machine it hangs whenever fast reports tries to open a fr3 file with a TfrxRichView on it, or when the designer is opened.
These forms open fine on all the other machines.
The failing Notebook is a 1.2GHz processor with 4G of RAM so a bit slow but heaps of memory.
It doesn't have any c++ builder installed but I did try installing the fast reports just in case I was missing a DLL or something.

Where do I start looking to find why this one windows 7 machine will not open the reports.
I see the report flick into view momentarily then the application has stopped message comes up from windows 7.

Other reports without the TfrxRichView display correctly on this same machine.
However if I try to run the report designer or open reports with TfrxRichView the application freezes on this one machine.

Interestingly Export to PDF and export to RTF works on this same machine.

Would love some suggestions what I can try to get my application working on this other machine.

This is speculative. AFAIU there are a number of RTF components which use the functionality provided by Windows to manage them.
In your case this would point to problem with the Windows installation itself.

I upgraded my fast reports tonight to 4_14 as I saw it had a richView bug fix, still same fault.
According to windows log it crashes in a call to ntdll.dll

tRYING A REPAIR INSTALL OF WINDOWS 7 AND WILL SEE HOW THAT GOES.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
