FR not using DisplayFormat property

It seems that FR does not use the DisplayFormat property of a field when displaying it in the report. I have to set the format for each field in FR using Edit Format which is a bit of a pain. Shouldn't it be picking up the DisplayFormat property or is this not done by design?

    it is by design so that other formats delimiters etc. can be set as desired.
