Cant't open 4.7 Reports with 4.12

edited 5:31PM in FastReport 4.0
Hello,

every time I try to open some older reports (I think they were generated with FR 4.7) with the report designer / generator I get an error "Invalid file format". But I really need to open and change the reports and I can't downgrade to 4.7 again. My current versions I used are 4.12.6 and newest 4.12.9.

What can I do. Please help me.

Thanks in advance

What is the file extension of the old report?

    Hello,

the file extension is "fr3", even though I did never own Fast Report 3. The first version I bought was fr4.7 and with this version I generated these reports.

    Hi,

open a working report and an old report in some text editor. They should both be XML files and you should be able to see differences. I suspect it has to do with the character set, either on the file itself or how FR interprets it.
Personally, I never had a problem such as your, moving from FR3 to FR4, D5 to D2006 and then DXE. Remember that beginning with D2010 Delphi has been changed to Unicode and that may just upset something.

    Yes indeed,

I moved to D2009 (it also has unicode support). This is a good idea. I'll try to compare both reports and find the differences. But the next two days I will not have enough time to do that, so it can pass some time till I can give a feedback.

    Thanks you.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
