Barcode resolution

We are printing jewellery labels that are 5mm high and 12mm wide using Code 128 for compactness.

With FastReports we are finding that a 200 or 300dpi printer (thermal) does not print these with sufficient clarity. We are using an alternative software package from ID-Automation which prints the identical bar code with identical dimensions so that it is perfectly readable.

My questions are:
When creating the barcode where we explicitly set the width, is fastreports rendering the barcode using some type of AutoSize mechanism and then using some image resizing on the final image to generate the bar code ?
Is is also potentially affected by the aspect ratio of the image which is resized ?
Is the final resolution of the printer taken into account when rendering the bar code.

This is presenting us with massive issues as we want to use FastReports and it works perfectly for A4 Laser, docket printers but not for the printing of barcodes to these jewellery tags. Our printers are Zebra and Toshiba and it would appear that we are so close and if we can understand the mechanism for rendering a barcode to a specific height / width, then we maybe able to work around this issue.

From our observations, the jewellery tag has two identical bar codes and one image goes extremely close and sometimes reads, the other does not. This again suggests from type of image mapping onto the printer being slightly misaligned.

Any assistance greatfully accepted as we are only a couple of weeks away from beta testing.

Thanks

Neil

    Anyone ?

We are licensed for FastReports but I believe we dont have the source code for me to explicitly look myself.

    AlexZ ?????

Losing faith and it is a key part of Fast Reports use. I don't think it is a big issue to fix as other software renders the bar codes on the same printer perfectly..... Is it being looked at - that's all I really need to know, otherwise I need to look at alternatives very quickly as we are about to go live at the end of next week!

    Thanks

    Neil.
