FastReports vs. RaveReport?

Hello

The Search button didn't return much, so here goes.

I need to build and print this type of label.

From what I can tell, it seems like I'll save myself a lot of headache by using a reporting tool to create a report, fill it with data, and send the whole thing to the label printer.

But I've never used a reporting tool before. I notice that D2007 ships with Rave (I assume it's the RaveReport from www.nevrona.com, possibly in a limited version).

Before I invest time and possibly money in learning a tool, I'd appreciate it if experienced users could tell me whether it's worth it to buy FastReports instead, and why.

Thank you.

    Hi

Yes what you want to do concerning the label can be done. As to why you need to choose FastReport you can find out from our site, actually, try to check out .Net too, its a great tool. :-)

Thanks for the tip. This article is interesting, but it'd be very useful if there were at least a comparison with the Rave Reports that ships with D2007, so that new users can make an informed choice as to whether it's good enough for their use or they need to buy a reporting tool.

BTW, I'm reading through the Programmer's Manual and the User's Manual. I think it'd be a good idea to add an introduction for programmers who are new to report builders, so they basically know how those things work, what the main features are, and the benefits compared to building their own solution with eg. the Printers object.
